The most affordable Michelin-starred restaurant in Paris hides here
It’s possible to have a Michelin-starred restaurant at an affordable price. And it’s right in the heart of the Marais, a stone’s throw from the Seine, that this gastronomic nugget has set up shop. The Aldehyde restaurant, run by chef Youssef Marzouk, has just been awarded its first Michelin star – and yet offers a menu for just 35 euros. A rarity in the capital.
A Michelin-starred restaurant with a Franco-Tunisian soul
The restaurant’s name, Aldehyde, refers to a molecule found in coriander, the star ingredient in the chef’s cuisine. Quite a symbol, since it’s precisely thecombination of oriental fragrances and French classics that makes this address so unique. An intelligent fusion of finesse and comfort, drawing on the childhood memories of Michelin-starred chef Youssef Marzouk.
Trained in the finest Parisian establishments, the chef offers refined, spontaneous market cuisine based on seasonal produce and signature recipes inspired by his roots.
A Michelin-starred menu at mini prices
Every week, Aldehyde renews its surprise menu, available in two formulas:
- 35 € lunch menu: starter + main course or main course + dessert
- Full menu at €45: starter, main course and dessert
Among the dishes that stood out were ramen-style duck ravioli, cauliflower with ras el hanout on a Dubarry velouté, and lamb in two ways, melting in the mouth. A festival of textures and flavors, for simply stunning value for money.
A discreet room, a warm welcome
Located 5 rue du Pont Louis-Philippe, Aldehyde is a place of understated elegance. The room, on a human scale, invites you to a moment of gastronomic intimacy. Reservations are essential, especially now that the restaurant has been awarded a Michelin star – a distinction richly deserved.
