Jonathan Anderson at Dior: what the choice really means

A passing of the torch that could well upset the balance of the men’s wardrobe. After weeks of rumors, Dior Homme confirms the arrival of British designer Jonathan Anderson at the helm of its collections.

From Loewe to Dior: the career of a singular designer

A graduate of the London College of Fashion, Jonathan Anderson cut his teeth with his own brand and then with Loewe, which he revitalized for over ten years. His approach – a blend of exceptional craftsmanship and an assertive second degree – has enabled the Spanish label to stand out from the crowd and reinvent its DNA.

The designer’s departure, announced a month ago, had already cast doubt on his future ambitions. Today, LVMH has made official his appointment at Dior Homme, confirmed internally at the group’s general meeting and relaunched on Instagram by the designer himself via a Dior-branded tag.

A strategic change for LVMH

This appointment comes at a strategic time for the LVMH group, a few days after the publication of its quarterly results. Bernard Arnault, the group’s chairman, has made no secret of his desire to breathe new life into Dior’s men’s division, left vacant by Kim Jones since January.

The surprise is that Anderson, more accustomed to a quirky, iconoclastic fashion language, will now have to align himself with the more classic, even formal elegance of Dior Homme. It’s a turn of events that the designer could turn into a creative springboard.

First collection scheduled for June 2025

According to early reports, Jonathan Anderson will unveil his first Dior Homme Spring 2026 collection at Paris Fashion Week in June 2025. In the meantime, speculation is rife: will he keep his eccentric touch? Or will he adapt to the more sculptural, iconic Dior style?

What to look out for

This appointment is not insignificant. Perhaps it heralds an overhaul of men’s tailoring, a shift away from classic codes towards a freer wardrobe, without losing Dior’s rigor. A risky gamble, but a promising one.
