The 5 must-see exhibitions in Paris in April (spoiler: one takes place at 210 m altitude)

Paris exhibitions in April! From the Museum of Natural History to the Montparnasse Tower, from an immersion in bubbles to a tribute to Agnès Varda, these exhibitions are sure to be the talk of the town.

“Deserts” at the Natural History Museum: a scientific and sensory journey

From April 2 to November 30, 2025, the Grande galerie de l’Évolution is transformed into an expedition ground. The “Deserts” exhibition defies clichés by revealing the many faces of these extreme territories: sand, ice, rock, salt… Through 200 specimens and immersive displays, we explore a fascinating, often little-known biodiversity.

Special mention should be made of the sequences on the adaptation of humans and animals to these extreme conditions. And while some of the projections are grandiose, we would have liked to see even more images of these worlds at the limits of reality. An enriching visit, designed for families, which also questions the ecological impact of our activities.

You’re literally floating in a sensory pop world, from giant soap bubbles to the hypnoticInfinity Room. The best part? A virtual hot-air balloon to fly over this surreal world. Fun, aesthetic, accessible: the perfect exhibition for curious visitors of all ages.

Panoramart: Paris reinvented from 210 m high

From April 3 to October 31, 2025, the Montparnasse Tower Observatory is transformed into a giant art gallery. Under the direction of illustrator Aurélien Jeanney, Panoramart projects Paris into a parallel dimension, through 10 monumental frescoes that play with perspective.

Trompe-l’œil, anamorphoses, colorful graphics… Jeanney revisits the capital as a visual playground. The result? A perched experience, somewhere between futuristic urbanism and graphic reverie. Best done at sunset, for the magic of contrasts.

David Hockney at the Fondation Louis Vuitton: 400 works for an eternal springtime

From April 9 to September 1, 2025, the Fondation Louis Vuitton hosts the most extensive retrospective ever devoted to major British artist David Hockney. Featuring over 400 works spanning a 70-year career, the exhibition takes visitors on a chromatic journey from Californian swimming pools to Normandy landscapes and digital portraits.

From “A Bigger Splash” to his iPad works and tributes to Van Gogh and Cézanne, Hockney shows that creation never stops. We come away refreshed, dazzled and a little nostalgic for spring.

“Agnès Varda’s Paris at the Musée Carnavalet: intimate and cinematic

The last nugget in this selection is “Le Paris d’Agnès Varda, de-ci, de-là”, on view from April 9 to August 24, 2025 at the Musée Carnavalet. A sensitive tribute to the filmmaker-photographer, focusing on her courtyard on rue Daguerre, the common thread running through a lifetime of creative work.

Never-before-seen photos, film extracts, personal objects: everything you need to understand Varda’s committed and poetic vision of Paris. A feminine narrative, rooted in the margins and details. A must-have for lovers of auteur cinema and urban photography.
