Two visions of the world at Galleria Continua: Osvaldo González and Zhanna Kadyrova
Galleria Continua Paris – Marais welcomes two powerful artists until May 28, 2025: Osvaldo González and Zhanna Kadyrova. Two worlds. Two narratives of the present.
Osvaldo González: captivating light
Cuban artist Osvaldo González transforms space. He uses an unexpected material: adhesive tape. He applies it in layers, directly to the walls. In this way, he creates landscapes, perspectives and leaks of light. Each work evokes a dormant city, a hazy memory. He rigorously blends transparency and opacity. He offers an interior, intimate, almost spiritual view.
His work explores memory, confinement and absence. He creates a dialogue between architecture and silence. The installation catches the eye. It doesn’t impose. It envelops. It suspends time. In Paris, he evokes Cuba. But without nostalgia. With tension and elegance.
Zhanna Kadyrova: fragments of a war
Zhanna Kadyrova presents Strategic Locations. She is one of Ukraine’s most committed artists. She lives in Kyiv. She works in her war-torn country. Her art becomes testimony. She uses found objects and materials from ruins. She shows violence without illustrating it. She captures its traces.
His works speak of borders and lost territories. Some were created on the front lines. Others in destroyed areas. She transforms fences, shells and tree trunks. She assembles them. She dresses them in military fabric. She symbolizes ecocide, war and exile.
HOME opens the tour. A fractured, brick map of Ukraine. Next comes Souvenir, then Forest, then Resources. At each stage, the artist raises questions. War changes everything. Even the idea of nature. Even the idea of refuge.
Two eyes, one emergency
These two artists share one thing in common: anchoring. Osvaldo González captures absence. Zhanna Kadyrova bears witness to reality. Together, they open the way to reflection. Art can resist. Art can remember. Art can give shape to what seemed lost.
On view until May 28, 2025, at Galleria Continua Paris Marais, 87 rue du Temple, 75003 Paris.
