The Dior man by Kim Jones

The Dior Homme fall-winter 2024-2025 show, presented on January 24 at the sleek École Militaire in Paris, marked a new stage in Kim Jones’ reinvention of masculine elegance. With this collection, the artistic director pays homage to Christian Dior’s couture heritage, revisiting the famous “Ligne H” imagined in 1954.

The heritage of Line H

Kim Jones drew her inspiration from the Autumn-Winter 1954-1955 collection, a symbol of modernity and audacity in its day. This line, conceived by Christian Dior to celebrate a linear silhouette, provoked debate in the ’50s. Today, it has become the basis of a refined masculine vision, where the savoir-faire of haute couture dialogues with a resolutely contemporary aesthetic.

Reinventing codes

The show opened with a model dressed in black, sporting an elegant skirt inspired by the Japanese Hakama and the ecclesiastical alb, embellished with a ribboned mask bearing the letters DIOR. Behind him, the silhouettes confirm the fusion of genres: voluminous jackets in pink silk taffeta, flowing blouses and embroidered coats bear witness to Kim Jones’ revisited couture imprint.

A memorable finale

The collection culminates in a pink belted and embroidered coat, the centerpiece of reinvented masculine elegance. Replacing the traditional couture wedding gown, this creation closed the show with a bang. A standing ovation saluted the talent of Kim Jones, who continues to redefine the codes of masculine elegance by blending innovation and heritage.
