Experience the Vendée Globe adventure in Paris

The Musée National de la Marine in Paris is devoting an exceptional exhibition to the legendary Vendée Globe race. This modern odyssey celebrates the surpassing of self and maritime exploit.

A tribute to the solo round-the-world race

The Solo Around the World exhibition retraces the history of the Vendée Globe. It is nicknamed “the Everest of the seas”. Through a chronological and scientific journey, the 12 mythical stages of this non-stop, non-assisted race are highlighted. From the Bay of Biscay to the finish in Les Sables-d’Olonne, via the famous Capes of Good Hope, Leeuwin and Horn.

A rich, eco-responsible exhibition

With over 270 exhibits, including sailing objects, models, works of art and never-before-seen video testimonials, the exhibition offers a fascinating panorama of ocean racing. This approach is also part of an eco-design approach, reusing materials and limiting environmental impact.

Topics range from weather strategy and environmental issues to technological innovations such as foils, which are revolutionizing monohull performance. Skippers’ testimonials, including Armel Le Cléac’h, Vendée Globe record-holder in 74 days, enrich this dive into the heart of the competition.

Activities for everyone

The exhibition is accompanied by a variety of events, including guided tours, children’s workshops, lectures and a series of race-related films. Highlights include a screening of the film Slocum et moi and a lecture on the history of the Vendée Globe.

Practical information

Located at the Palais de Chaillot, the exhibition is open until March 2025. Prices range from €11 to €15, with discounts for young people and free options for those under 26. Educational tools, such as tour booklets and a sound trail, are also available for an enriched experience.
