A Young Hiker: Ramdane Touhami’s eclectic café-museum

In September 2024, multi-faceted artist Ramdane Touhami opened a unique space in Paris, combining café, boutique and museum. Located in the Marais district, A Young Hiker celebrates its creator’s varied passions through a bold blend of art, design, fashion and history.

A modern cabinet of curiosities

Located at 10 rue Perrée, A Young Hiker reflects Ramdane Touhami’s vision: a place where shapes, colors, sounds and words intertwine. Although he rejects the terms “boutique” or “museum”, the space evokes a cabinet of curiosities, combining rare objects and unique works. This space is a continuation of his bold projects, such as the relaunch of Cire Trudon in 2007 and Officine Universelle Buly in 2014.

The Marais district is no stranger to the entrepreneur. In 1997, he opened L’Épicerie, an avant-garde concept store that attracted icons such as Jeremy Scott and Marc Jacobs.

A multi-sensory experience

At A Young Hiker, each corner reveals a different facet of Ramdane Touhami’s world. Visitors can enjoy pastries at the Utopia Drei Berge café, while contemplating design objects such as a bicycle by Jean Prouvé or the Wandanlage wall-mounted stereo system, created by Dieter Rams for Braun, and revisited by Virgil Abloh.

On the fashion side, A Young Hiker offers an exclusive selection of outdoor clothing and accessories, including Japanese and international brands with little presence in Europe. Modern, technical pieces with innovative cuts offer a fresh approach to high-end ready-to-wear.

A tribute to revolutionary graphic design

A major attraction is the Radical Media Arcade exhibition, conceived by curator Emile Shahidi in collaboration with Ramdane Touhami and graphic designer Thomas Le Provost. The collection features some 22,000 documents: revolutionary posters, counter-culture newspapers, political graphics and works exploring themes such as feminism, decolonization and social struggles.

Visitors can also discover “press review T-shirts”, collages inspired by historical events such as the wars in Vietnam and Palestine, and police violence. These creations combine political commitment and graphic aesthetics.

A space open to contemporary art

In addition to his role as collector, Ramdane Touhami uses A Young Hiker as a platform for contemporary artists. The venue has already hosted works by Frank Lebon and Dutch publishing house 550 BC, which specializes in provocative publications on subjects ranging from Mexican cartels to life in prison.
