Cameron Diaz returns to Netflix after a 10-year absence

After a ten-year absence, Cameron Diaz makes her return to the silver screen in the action film “Back In Action”, released on Netflix on January 17, 2025. This project marks a new collaboration with Jamie Foxx, his partner in “L’Enfer du dimanche” (1999) and “Annie” (2014).

A cult actress returns

Cameron Diaz, 52, had left Hollywood in 2014 to devote herself to her family life and her California wine brand, Avaline. Yet the iconic actress of the 90s and 2000s couldn’t resist the offer from Jamie Foxx, who is co-producing the film. The announcement of this return was made in 2022 on social networks, via an amusing audio recording in which Jamie Foxx, accompanied by Tom Brady, convinced the actress to come out of retirement.

Directed by Seth Gordon (“How to Kill Your Boss”, “Baywatch: Baywatch”), “Back In Action” follows Emily and Matt, two former CIA spies who, after leaving the service to start a family, find themselves caught up in their past. This role eerily mirrors the life of Cameron Diaz, who, after a decade away from the spotlight, returns to a world she had left behind.
