Rihanna: the golden dress at the heart of the “J’adore” exhibition
Galerie Dior, located at 30 Montaigne in Paris, unveils a unique piece: the gold dress worn by Rihanna in the advertising campaign for the famous Dior fragrance J’adore. An exceptional creation embodying the opulence of couture luxury.
A bespoke outfit for an iconic muse
On 1ᵉʳ September 2024, Dior revealed a new facet of its iconic J’adore fragrance, choosing Rihanna as its muse. After Charlize Theron and Carmen Kass, the Barbadian star brings a sensual modernity to the campaign, immortalized at the Château de Versailles by Steven Klein. To dress this icon, Dior artistic director Maria Grazia Chiuri designed a bespoke gown, embroidered in gold and light.
This strapless gown is the fruit of the expertise of the Dior ateliers and Vermont embroiderers. Thousands of hours of work were required to adorn the piece with pearls and sequins forming a precious constellation. True to the spirit of the New Look, the design combines a structured corset with a cowl neckline at the back, sublimating Rihanna’s silhouette while meeting her requirements: highlighting her body with light, transparent fabrics like silk tulle.
Couture details that shine on screen
The outfit is not limited to the dress. The Dior J’adore campaign also features a golden tulle cape, described as a “cloud of gold”, and an iconic choker reinvented by the Dior ateliers. This necklace, composed of pearls of progressive sizes, evokes the perfume’s heritage while adding a contemporary touch. Complemented by beaded mittens, the outfit reflects the power of gold, the central theme of the exhibition.
A play to discover in Paris
This exceptional creation, now on display at La Galerie Dior, celebrates the union between haute couture and advertising art. In the “Le Pouvoir de l’Or” room, visitors can admire this dress that symbolizes both Dior’s innovation and heritage, while rediscovering the sumptuous world of J’adore perfume.
