Tense psychological intrigue
The Cleaning Lady, written by Freida McFadden, is a breathtaking thriller. The novel, published in 2022, tells the story of Millie, a housekeeper recently released from prison, who works for the wealthy Winchester family in New York. The opportunity seems like a second chance for Millie. However, the story takes a dark turn. She soon discovers that the Winchesters are hiding some very dark secrets. Her attraction to the husband of Nina Winchester, the picture-perfect mother, adds complexity to an already dense story.
Acclaimed for its deep characters and fascinating plot, the book became a phenomenon on TikTok with over 18 million mentions. This craze has attracted Hollywood, determined to seduce thriller fans too.
A five-star cast
For the adaptation, director Paul Feig (of Mes Meilleures Amies fame) will star Sydney Sweeney as Millie. Sweeney, known for her performances in Euphoria and The White Lotus. She will be joined by Amanda Seyfried, who played roles in Jennifer’s Body and Lolita malgré moi, as Nina Winchester. This blonde duo has high expectations.
On the male side, Brandon Sklenar will play Nina’s enigmatic husband. Although Henry Cavill was rumored for the role, the actor seen in It Ends With Us was ultimately chosen.
A long-awaited release
Filming is scheduled to take place from December 2024 to February 2025. Although no official release date has yet been announced, the anticipation is palpable among fans of the book.
