This year, prestigious sites such as Vaux-le-Vicomte, Chantilly, Chenonceau and Versailles invite visitors to discover the magic of the festive season through unique experiences. Here’s a round-up of the highlights.
The King’s tour of the Château de Versailles
At Versailles, the Parcours du Roi transports visitors into a Baroque atmosphere for the festive season. From December 14, 2024 to January 4, 2025, the château is offering a show tour of the Grands Appartements, featuring musicians, dancers, fencers and fireworks. Visitors discover the Salon d’Hercule, the Galerie des Glaces and the King’s bedroom, reliving the grandeur of the court under Louis XIV. This magical tour embodies the royal spirit of the festivities and promises an immersive experience like no other.
Christmas at the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte
From November 16, 2024 to January 5, 2025, the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte opens its doors for a new edition of Le Grand Noël. This event plunges visitors into an enchanted universe, where each room is decorated in the spirit of childhood tales. This year, the château features a brand-new ice rink, offering a fun and festive experience for young and old alike. With illuminations, magical decorations and entertainment for the whole family, this visit is a must for a magical Christmas in the Paris region.
Christmas at Château de Chantilly
In Chantilly, the magic of Christmas begins on November 30, 2024 and ends on January 5, 2025. The château offers a magical stroll through its sumptuously decorated gardens and halls. Visitors can look forward to a variety of activities, storytelling evenings and meetings with Santa Claus. The park and Grandes Écuries also host equestrian shows and creative workshops. This warm atmosphere makes the Château de Chantilly an ideal place to share family moments during the festive season.
A porcelain Christmas at Château de Chenonceau
Château de Chenonceau is celebrating Christmas in style by teaming up with Bernardaud, renowned for its porcelain. Together, they offer a “Porcelain Christmas”, with refined decorations inspired by the art of the table and the delicacy of Limoges creations. Catherine de Médicis, in homage to her native Florence, had already recreated an Italian bridge and typical gardens. This year, the birds in the gallery come to life on the ceremonial table. The combination of French heritage and craftsmanship creates a unique atmosphere.
Christmas myths and legends at the royal fortress of Chinon
To mark the 900th anniversary of the birth of Eleanor of Aquitaine, Chinon Fortress pays tribute to the queens and artists who have marked its history. The fortress offers an enchanting tour dedicated to Eleanor and Marie d’Anjou, decorated by Géraldine Leclerc and Véronique Chauvet. This immersive trail invites visitors to explore plant compositions, evoking a medieval banquet. The Tour de l’Horloge also presents a photographic exhibition entitled Debout les Reines! celebrating contemporary women reinventing their power.
A showcase of lights at the Château de Langeais
For Christmas, the Château de Langeais is transformed into a veritable “showcase of lights”. Lanterns, candles and garlands illuminate each room, highlighting the permanent collections and decor. Designed by Christopher Lacassagne, the lights create a soft, bright atmosphere, ideal for appreciating the history and heritage of this medieval château.
Hansel and Gretel at the royal city of Loches
The Cité Royale de Loches invites visitors into the world of the Grimm brothers’ fairytale Hansel and Gretel. The tale comes to life in the royal dwelling, where settings and story elements are recreated for total immersion. Visitors wander through an enchanted forest, the candy hut and the witch’s treasure, becoming actors in this popular story. This journey into the imaginary world will delight young and old alike.
