Pharrell Williams in Louis Vuitton in the new Lego movie
Pharrell Williams, artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s men’s collections, is the star of a new animated film, Piece by Piece, to be released in France on November 20, 2024.
This musical biopic, set in the colorful world of Legos, traces the artist’s journey from his childhood in Virginia Beach to his international music career.
A story told in Lego
Pharrell Williams, father of four, has chosen to tell his story in Lego form to make it accessible to his youngsters. He tells Vogue USA: “If I’m going to tell my story, I want my kids to understand it.” Oscar-winning director Morgan Neville helms this project, which reveals the highlights of Pharrell’s career, his collaborations with artists such as Gwen Stefani, Kendrick Lamar, Timbaland and Jay-Z, and explores his creative process.
A project supported by Louis Vuitton
In addition to his music career, Pharrell has held the position of artistic director at Louis Vuitton for men’s collections since February 2023. Piece by Piece integrates this role into the story, featuring the main character wearing a Louis Vuitton outfit. The suit, worn by Pharrell at his first fashion show in June 2023 on the Pont Neuf in Paris, is part of the Spring-Summer 2024 collection and features the Damoflage motif, designed by Pharrell with designer ET Artist. Inspired by Louis Vuitton’s classic Damier motif, Damoflage represents a touch of pop culture for the luxury brand.
Louis Vuitton, which supports the project, is actively sharing the film’s release on its social networks. With Piece by Piece, Pharrell continues to explore the notion of inclusivity and diversity, values he integrates into his creations for the brand.
