Roger Vivier, his cinematic art and huis clos
Roger Vivier continues its Vivier Express series with a second episode entitled “Travelling Icons”.
The French fashion house combines fashion, travel and cinema in a hushed setting. The setting is a red train cab. Each episode is part of a specific cinematic genre, featuring its iconic ambassadresses.
After a first episode with Laura Dern in a romantic comedy, Roger Vivier is now exploring the world of film noir. This time, it’s the talented Eva Green, superb in these mysterious, even mystical roles, who plays the ambassadress. Under the direction of Nicolangelo Gelormini, the second Vivier Express film is a little darker. The camera focuses on the brand’s iconic I Love Vivier pumps and Viv’ Choc bag. The script revolves around Roger Vivier’s famous quote: “To wear dreams on your feet is to start making them come true”.
Conceived by Gherardo Felloni, Creative Director since 2018, the Vivier Express: “Travelling Icons” project aims to celebrate the Maison’s flagship creations. In addition to promoting new products, the initiative adopts a singular tone by incorporating burlesque humor, now a hallmark of Roger Vivier.
By 2023, the brand is enjoying strong success, with sales up 19.4% to 293 million euros. The brand, owned by Tod’s Spa, also enjoys the support of the LVMH group and private equity firm L Catterton. The Della Valle family, founders of Tod’s, also orchestrated a privatization operation by leaving the Milan Stock Exchange last spring.
With this second opus, Roger Vivier continues to blend creativity and cinematic daring in magnificent closed-door settings.
