We invite you to delve into the unique world of Mourad Mazouz, whose Parisian addresses combine the beautiful, the good and, above all, the unconventional. We tested for you the famous brunch at his restaurant DERRIÈRE. An original, gourmet experience recommended by our editors!

BEHIND: a cocoon of art and charm

Hidden behind Andy Wahloo’s bar & 404 restaurant, DERRIÈRE occupies Mourad Mazouz’s former apartment, transformed into a warm and welcoming space where every room has been transformed into an arty reception area. From the living room to the bedroom, from the 70s New York loft-style dining room to the dressing room, the decor, designed by Mourad himself, makes you feel at home with an artist friend. Details abound: paintings, posters, table books here and there, nothing is left to chance. Right down to the toilet, where a bathtub doubles as a sink. Most surprising of all: the mysterious cupboard that hides a smoking room that looks like a cabinet of curiosities. Furiously chic… we love it!

In this relaxed atmosphere, you’ll come across a plethora of styles, ages and origins, from American customers to trendy Parisians, from transients to regulars, forming a melting pot where everyone easily finds their place. The magic happens naturally…

Sunday brunch: a convivial get-together

The DERRIÈRE brunch charms with its simplicity and generosity. The buffet of starters offers a range of gourmet flavors, fresh products that invite sharing, all carefully homemade: seasonal salads or soups, charcuterie, smoked fish and shellfish, marinated olives and crunchy vegetables, not forgetting original creations. For the main course, you’ll find classic dishes revisited around the organic egg. The cheese omelette is airy, with a perfect balance between softness and creaminess, and the eggs Benedict, topped with a hollandaise sauce, reveal a subtle marriage between sweetness and tangy flavors.

As for the desserts, they’re sure to satisfy even the most demanding palates. The cheesecake is meltingly creamy, with a crunchy base that offers an irresistible contrast. The lemon meringue tart is a well-balanced combination of acidity, sugar and light meringue. To accompany this feast, coffees and teas are served at will, reminiscent of the good vibe of American coffee shops.

A resolutely informal atmosphere

Behind the scenes, the atmosphere is deliberately friendly and friendly, the place is warm and relaxed. The team is made up of personalities and characters who are all approachable, so that together, customer and staff, they can create that special atmosphere where you feel “at home”.

The spot is ideal for Sunday get-togethers with family or friends, two or many more. At the BACK, you can privatize a living room for 10 people or more, 2 rooms such as the dressing room and the bedroom, or even an entire floor. The perfect place to celebrate an event, a birthday or just to get together with friends in a totally unique setting.

And if you’re passing by, just ask for Gigi!
