Marchesi 1824, the tribute book to Prada’s patisserie
The Marchesi 1824 patisserie, owned by the luxury house of Prada and with a 200-year history, celebrates its heritage with a beautiful book published by Assouline, exploring its history and iconic creations.
The book Pasticceria Marchesi: Savoring The Spirit of Milan delves into the world of this pastry shop founded in Milan during the Austrian occupation. Marchesi 1824 has become a renowned address, attracting locals and tourists alike with its spectacular window displays and refined products. Its flagship brioche, the Panettone, uses ingredients such as honey from Veneto and candied oranges from Sicily. This specialty has inspired seasonal variations, including a summer version with apricots and almonds.
Evolution under Prada
In 2014, Angelo Marchesi joined forces with the Prada group, giving the brand new visibility. In addition to the historic address in Via Santa Maria alla Porta, Marchesi 1824 has expanded with two other stores in Milan and one in London’s Mayfair district.
Gourmet illustrations
The 280-page book documents these locations and highlights other specialties of the house. We visually feast on hand-glazed cookies, airy tortas, ice creams and multicolored candies. Sculptural holiday cakes, highlighted in Prada campaigns, complete this visual retrospective.
This book celebrates the history of Marchesi 1824 and its integration into the refined world of Prada. The 200 illustrations offer a glimpse of the richness and elegance for which this patisserie is renowned.
