Miuccia Prada’s Spring/Summer 2025 show at the Palais d’Iéna during Paris Fashion Week was much more than just a fashion event. It was the beginning of a multidisciplinary project, marking an exploration of the cultural dialogues between Miu Miu and influential artists and filmmakers over the past thirteen years. An immersive and critical experience.

The staging, by artist Goshka Macuga, is not limited to a set, but intervenes directly in the fashion show, at the crossroads of the worlds of art, film and fashion. This collaboration also took shape in an art installation atArt Basel Paris 2024, questioning Miu Miu’s stories about women through her famous Women’s Tales. These stories, blending fashion and cinema, are key pieces in the brand’s identity, and this collection seems to extend this dialogue by reflecting on the values of youth, honesty and simplicity.

Miu Miu, youth as a source of inspiration

Miu Miu’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection explores a universal theme: youth. That moment in life when we are still pure, true to ourselves, before social norms and expectations alter this authenticity. Miuccia Prada offers a series of simple, uncluttered garments, but not without a touch of sophistication. The immaculate white of certain outfits, such as the dress worn by one of the main models (image 3), underlines this search for truth and purity. This return to voluntary simplicity is a direct response to an age saturated with information and excess, where clarity becomes a form of rebellion.

However, the collection’s claim to simplicity is open to debate. While some saw this approach as an exercise in controlled minimalism, others regretted a lack of precision and detail in the cuts. The intention to present pieces that reflect the honesty and freshness of youth is undeniable, but the diversity of silhouettes sometimes lacks cohesion, giving an impression of unfinished business.

A bold but divisive production

The show at the Palais d’Iéna was largely marked by the artistic intervention of Goshka Macuga, with a bold installation that extended her work on Women’s Tales. This art project, called Salt Looks Like Sugar, is a reflection on temporality and women’s dialogues in the world of art and fashion. The newspapers hanging above the guests created an intriguing atmosphere, while adding an intellectual dimension to the show.

But this bold visual concept also drew criticism. Some considered the installation too imposing, risking distraction from the clothing creations, while others hailed this artistic fusion of several disciplines as proof of Miu Miu’s avant-gardism. Clearly, this multidisciplinary approach resonates perfectly with the Parisian context, where contemporary art finds a natural place in fashion events.

A collection between minimalism and artistic experimentation

The Spring/Summer 2025 show stands out for its intention to explore profound themes such as youth and honesty. Miuccia Prada’ s fashion is simple and sincere, but at times lacks the rigor and detail necessary to make a real statement. While the visual experience orchestrated by Goshka Macuga captivated the audience, it also helped to divide opinions.

Where Miu Miu excels is in its ability to create bridges between fashion, art and cinema. For lovers of Parisian culture and artistic innovation, this show remains a must-see at Fashion Week.
