Alaïa / Kuramata at the Azzedine Alaïa Foundation
Until January 12, 2025. An unconditional admirer of Shiro Kuramata, in 2005 the couturier Azzedine Alaïa devoted an exhibition here to the Japanese designer, who died in 1991. Twenty years later and for the first time, the Fondation Azzedine Alaïa has decided to celebrate the designer once again with a dialogue between the creations of the two artists. More than 20 exceptional pieces of furniture and objects by Shiro Kuramata (1934-1991) are presented. By contrast, nearly 20 haute couture creations by Azzedine Alaïa maintain the poetry of form, the radicality of cut, the subtle choice of color.

Comics on every floor at the Centre Georges Pompidou
Until November 4, 2024, the Centre Pompidou celebrates the ninth art form in all its spaces and for all ages! A major exhibition on level 6, Bande dessinée (1964 – 2024), offers an overview of the medium’s modern and contemporary history. A rich program of new events accompanies this exhibition. These include an exhibition in the heart of the museum , La bande dessinée au Musée (on level -1). Yasuhiro Ishimoto, Des lignes et des corps at BAL
The exhibition brings together 170 vintage prints by Japanese photographer Yasuhiro Ishimoto (1921-2012), a major figure in the Japanese photographic scene of the 1950s and 1960s. The exhibition focuses on the first decades of Ishimoto’s work, between Chicago and Japan. The prints on show, presented individually or in series, illustrate Ishimoto’s ability to work with composition, texture and motif within a single frame. A key figure of the post-war period, Ishimoto would be considered ” visually bilingual “. This was due to his ability to combine the formal approach of the New Bauhaus with the quintessence of Japanese aesthetics.
