The Magic of Drones: the Château de Versailles unveils a unique show during the Olympic Games
From July 27 to September 7, the Château de Versailles will be taking advantage of the influx of tourists attending the Olympic and Paralympic Games to attract as many visitors as possible to its show: The Magic of Drones.
An iconic symbol recognized the world over… The Château de Versailles is hosting the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Originally a simple hunting lodge, the Château de Versailles welcomed the court of Louis XIV in 1682. It became the epicenter of French royalty. In 1979, it became the first French site to be listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. For the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, temporary developments have transformed this historic site into an exceptional setting for the competitions.
A temporary quarry flanked by several grandstands is set up at the Étoile Royale. This esplanade lies to the west of the Grand Canal, in the heart of the Château de Versailles park. This arena hosts the dressage and show jumping events of the eventing competition, as well as the Olympic and Paralympic show jumping and dressage competitions. Thecross-country event of the individual and team eventing competitions takes place on the banks of the Grand Canal.
The Magic of Drones at the Château de Versailles: a dazzling night show
On the occasion of the Paris 2024 Games, the legendary Grandes Eaux Nocturnes show is getting a modern update. More than 500 drones will be performing in the skies above Versailles. From July 27 to September 7, the historic site will take advantage of the influx of tourists to attract as many visitors as possible to its new show: La Magie des Drones.
As with Les Grandes Eaux Nocturnes, which enliven the château’s gardens every summer, the show begins with a play of water and light in the royal groves. This enchanting stroll will also be enriched by the broadcasting of famous Baroque arias, from Lully to Charpentier , via Gluck and Rameau. All in all, spectators will be enveloped in an ultra-temporal atmosphere.
The highlight of the evening will be a breathtaking air show featuring over 500 synchronized drones. It combines lights and fireworks. The show will be orchestrated by Groupe F.
