France triumphs at the Paris 2024 Olympics with a dazzling start to the competition. In just 7 days, French athletes have surpassed their performances in Tokyo and London, collecting a total of 36 medals.

On Friday, swimmer Léon Marchand added a fourth gold medal to the French record books by winning the 200-meter medley. This marks the 36th medal for the French delegation! This performance not only surpasses the 33 medals from Tokyo, but also the 35 from London. The first medal of this harvest was won by Shirine Boukli in judo, in the under 48 kg category, followed swiftly by a historic victory for the men’s rugby sevens against reigning champions Fiji. These performances were followed by memorable days, notably on July 29. Indeed, France won 8 medals. A record since the Atlanta Games in 1996. Among these medals, Pauline Ferrand-Prévot shone, winning gold in the mountain bike cross-country event.
