Le Comptoir de Crème: the 18th arrondissement’s new “canaille” haunt
Le Comptoir de Crème is THE new, typically Parisian address that’s a must-try. Paris Select reveals everything you need to know about this restaurant designed by Camille Coiffard and Maxime Guillemet.
It becomes the new HQ for Parisians. Le Comptoir de Crème presents itself as a warm refuge where you can discover fine wines and enjoy delicious cocktails. But above all, it’s a place where you can reconnect with the world over traditional comfort food. Ideal for impromptu aperitifs or dinners, this purely Parisian hot spot is the second address of couple Camille Coiffard and Maxime Guillemet, who have chosen to invest in the 18th arrondissement, in the heart of the Jules Joffrin district. At Comptoir de Crème, conviviality and simplicity are the watchwords.
As you enter the restaurant, you immediately notice a long central table, adorned with candles, inviting guests to share a delicious meal with neighbors they don’t necessarily know. You can also enjoy the outdoors thanks to the large open windows to soak up the warmth of the neighborhood. “Crème, le comptoir is for me the embodiment of today’s bistro. A generous, convivial and relaxed table,” explains Maurine Maccagno, the architect who imagined this sublime cellar for eating and drinking.
Le Comptoir de Crème and its generous dishes to share
The cuisine is inspired by Severino Malerba, a 28-year-old chef who, after a hotel school in Italy and a master’s degree in cuisine, came to France to enrich his experience. After 4 years at La Dame de Pic as chef de partie and then sous-chef, he decided to express his own culinary vision, combining flavors, experimenting with new techniques and using his creativity to sublimate products. Challenges are part of his DNA and, like Maxime and Camille, he shares a passion for entertaining.
So it was only natural that he agreed to become Executive Chef of both the Crème and Le Comptoir De Crème kitchens. As for à la carte dishes, let yourself be tempted by the creamy Burrata with home-made tomato sauce, the Truffle Croque-Monsieur, the unmissable Fish Ceviche or the Beef Carpaccio with parmesan, pesto and arugula. As for sweetness, there are two choices: chocolate mousse or scooped ice cream. So, what do you think of discovering a new Parisian HQ?
