Sophie Marceau on France Inter with a new literary program
Known for her cult film roles, Sophie Marceau has added a new string to her bow: that of radio host on France Inter, for a program dedicated to literature.
A literary passion at the microphone
From April 27, 2025, Sophie Marceau will be at the helm of a literary program broadcast every Sunday at 7:15pm on France Inter. Alternating with writer François Sureau, she will share her literary favorites and inspirations. Away from the cinema spotlight, the 58-year-old actress, director and author reveals a genuine passion for reading and the great authors.
Through this program, she will introduce the texts and writers who have shaped her: Christian Bobin, Thomas Bernhard and many others. For his part, François Sureau will explore the works of Jean Giono, Marguerite Yourcenar, André Breton and Guillaume Apollinaire, according to Le Parisien.
From poetry to literary prime time
This project is not a first for Sophie Marceau. In 2023, she had already made a notable foray into radio, presenting her collection La Souterraine on Charles Pépin‘s program Sous le soleil de Platon. This appearance won over Adèle Van Reeth, director of France Radio, who has now asked her to host this new program.
The program takes over from Fabrice Luchini‘s Admirations littéraires, where every Sunday the actor read the greatest names in classical and modern literature, including Baudelaire, Céline and Victor Hugo. After a final program devoted to poetry on March 30, a new chapter opens for Sunday evening listeners.
An event eagerly awaited by culture lovers
With her naturalness and sensitivity, Sophie Marceau promises to bring a special freshness to this new literary format. France Inter thus confirms its commitment to democratizing access to culture by entrusting its airwaves to passionate personalities.
