Euphoria season 3: what does HBO have in store for us?

Between rumors, revelations and explosive casting, season 3 of Euphoria promises to be as confusing as it is expected. After two years of uncertainty, HBO has relaunched its cult series, with filming beginning in January 2025. And while the first images already have fans salivating, they also hold two unexpected surprises: singer Rosalía and actress Sharon Stone officially join the cast.

Zendaya, always at the heart of the game… and the contract

The presence of Zendaya, now co-producer of the series, is one of the few elements confirmed from the outset. Zendaya’s commitment to the show this season has made her the youngest and highest-paid black actress on television, earning her $1 million per episode. This figure puts her on a par with the stars of Friends, Game of Thrones and Big Little Lies. But it’s the return of Rue Bennett, her complex and devastated character, that intrigues most. Sober at the end of season 2, Rue could well fall back into her old ways, according to creator Sam Levinson, who announces a “very dark” season inspired by film noir.

Rosalía, Sharon Stone… and a whiff of scandal

This new chapter in Euphoria will also introduce two unexpected figures: the iconic Sharon Stone in a still-secret role, and Rosalía, taking her first steps as an actress in a series she considers “one of her favorites”. HBO seems to be playing the generational electroshock card, mixing big names and cultural sensations.

A series under tension, between departures and flashbacks

Despite the tragic loss of Angus Cloud and the conspicuous absence of Barbie Ferreira, most of the original cast returns. Also of note: a time jump. The heroes will no longer be in high school. Zendaya herself evokes an expanded universe, a more adult and brutal world, where the scars of adolescence continue to shape the characters.
