Jennifer Lawrence & Robert Pattinson: the duo that will electrify Cannes?
When two icons of contemporary cinema meet in front of Lynne Ramsay’s camera, the anticipation is immense. With Die, My Love, adapted from the novel by Ariana Harwicz, the British director has made a stunning comeback, and is in contention for the Palme d’Or at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.
An incandescent cast, skin-deep tension
Jennifer Lawrence plays a woman consumed by loneliness and post-partum anguish. A dense, visceral role, tailor-made for the Oscar-winning actress. Opposite her, Robert Pattinson plays an ambiguous husband. The on-screen duo promises a rare intensity.

Alongside them, LaKeith Stanfield, Sissy Spacek and Nick Nolte complete a five-star cast. Behind the camera, Ramsay relies on a script co-written with Enda Walsh and produced, no less, by Martin Scorsese.
From Argentine novel to American nightmare
Based on the 2017 novel Die, My Love, the film swaps the French countryside of the book for rural America. The setting changes, but the psychological confinement remains. Once again, Lynne Ramsay explores the gray areas of the human soul, where reality tips over into the uncanny.
Loneliness, motherhood, contained violence… All the themes dear to Ramsay are present here. After We Need to Talk About Kevin and A Beautiful Day, she continues her obsession with domestic unease and psychic breakdown.
Cannes 2025: the emotional shock of the selection?
With this film, the Croisette could well be holding one of its most disturbing and aesthetically powerful works. Lawrence, transformed, reveals herself more raw than ever. Pattinson, in counterpoint, plays with toxic nuance. A duo that could well leave its mark on this year’s edition.
