Beatles: Sam Mendes prepares a biopic… in four films!
Four films for one legend. Sam Mendes is hitting hard: in April 2028, he will unveil a groundbreaking project, a four-part biopic, each focusing on a member of The Beatles. The idea? To plunge as close as possible to the intimacy of John, Paul, George and Ringo, to give new life to one of the most mythical musical stories of the 20th century.
Generation Z casting for pop legends
Revealed at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, the project promises to be monumental. Paul Mescal will star as Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr and Harris Dickinson as John Lennon. A cast that is both audacious and in tune with the times, revisiting the legend with a new sensibility.
On stage, the four actors even reproduced one of the band’s cult poses, like a living echo of Beatlemania. More than a biopic, a generational retelling?
An original structure: four films, four perspectives
The project, called The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event, will not tell the story of the band in a linear fashion, but as seen through the personal eyes of each member. An immersive narrative experience, which Mendes describes as “bingeable at the cinema”.
Each film will stand on its own, but will form a coherent fresco designed to explore the human complexity of each of the Fab Four. A format never before seen in the world of music biopics.
Cult tracks authorized for the first time
Another revolution: this will be the very first narrative film to benefit from full Beatles music rights. We’ll hear Let It Be, Strawberry Fields, Yellow Submarine… in key sequences, designed to be as close as possible to the emotional reality of the characters.
