Atmos Infinite Halo: watchmaking with the breath of time

When physics becomes poetry, Jaeger-LeCoultre reinvents the myth of perpetual motion with a clock as fascinating as it is iconic. Unveiled at Milan Design Week 2025, the limited-edition Atmos Infinite Halo enhances a masterpiece of design and ingenuity.
A clock that lives… literally on the spirit of the times
Conceived in 1928 by inventor Jean-Léon Reutter, theAtmos is distinguished by a mechanism as unlikely as it is visionary: its operation relies neither on batteries nor manual winding, but on infinitesimal variations in ambient temperature. A difference of just one degree Celsius is enough to guarantee 48 hours of power reserve. The principle is based on a hermetically sealed gas-filled capsule connected to the mainspring: as the temperature changes, the capsule expands or contracts, driving the clock with constant precision.
Atmos Infinite Halo: pure, uncompromising design
The new Infinite Halo version is part of this quest forwatchmaking purity. Limited to just 100 pieces, this model unveils a white lacquered dial, a veritable feat of craftsmanship requiring ten successive coats of lacquer, millimetric drying, then perfect polishing and varnishing. This immaculate white subtly contrasts with the internal mechanics, visible beneath a cylindrical glass globe reminiscent of the first Atmos in Art Deco design.
The dial is composed of two concentric discs, creating a hypnotic visual depth. The polished baton hour-markers, rhodium-plated hands and meticulously engraved micro-markers reflect the Grande Maison de la Vallée de Joux’s obsession with detail. The whole rests on almost invisible glass supports, giving the illusion that the mechanism is floating in space.
Mechanical excellence in the service of minimalism
Inside, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 570 displays only the hours and minutes. No superfluous complications here: true sophistication lies in simplicity. The annular balance oscillates slowly, almost weightlessly, in a fascinating silent ballet. The openworked construction reveals the finest watchmaking craftsmanship: Côtes de Genève, brushed finishes, polished bevels… Every detail plays with the light and magnifies the movement’s elegance.
A tradition of innovation
For almost a century, Atmos has embodied the alliance between technological research and timeless aesthetics. Now a coveted objet d’art, it has stood the test of time, renewing itself without betraying its essence. Jaeger-LeCoultre, l’Horloger des Horlogers™, continues to bring heritage and modernity into dialogue through exclusive editions like this Atmos Infinite Halo, conceived as a manifesto of balance and precision.
