Louis Vuitton enters the art of living
In Milan, Louis Vuitton unveiled its very first Maison collection: a refined universe combining furniture, precious objects and tableware, to be discovered in a sumptuous setting.
Immersive scenography in the heart of Milan
On the occasion of the Salone del Mobile, Louis Vuitton unveiled its Maison collection for the first time, a concentrate of design and craftsmanship on display in the majestic Palazzo Serbelloni. Right from the entrance, the tone is set: in the inner courtyard, Charlotte Perriand‘s La Maison au Bord de l’Eau takes pride of place, while a spiral staircase leads to a series of refined scenographies. These include exclusive cushions and textiles inspired by original sketches by the famous architect.
Design for the exceptional
The collection pays tribute to the greatest names in contemporary design. Fortunato Depero’s dreamlike bestiary adorns tableware and wall hangings with his hand-painted drawings. On the furniture side, Patrick Jouin, Cristián Mohaded and Atelier Biagetti have designed elegant, pure pieces: armchairs, sofas, tables and lighting fixtures are adorned with leather, precious woods and marquetry, in keeping with Louis Vuitton’s emblematic savoir-faire.
The playful, luxurious art of games
The company has not forgotten the world of gaming, revisited with poetry and humor. Special mention should be made of Estúdio Campana’s table soccer, populated by mermaids in place of players, or the pinball machine in tribute to Pharrell Williams. Lovers of rare pieces will also appreciate a chess set in noble wood and a Majong delicately redesigned.
Vibrant, sunny tableware
The tableware collections, meanwhile, take their inspiration from Capri and the Italian summer: twisted silver flatware, floral ceramics by Jaime Hayon, vases by Patricia Urquiola, and minimalist pieces by Japanese designer Nendo compose a sunny, refined tableau.
Iconic pieces to collect
The highlight of the show: a chest of drawers conceived as a cabinet of curiosities, and a vinyl turntable of unprecedented design, brilliantly signalling Louis Vuitton’s entry into the world of luxury interior design.
