The cheapest bistro in Paris has just opened (and we love it)

A Parisian bistro where a dish costs less than 7 euros? No, you’re not dreaming. In a city where even the smallest croque-monsieur costs more than €15, bistrot 6.90, freshly opened at 3 rue Poissonnière (Paris 2e), is set to shake things up. And it’s no hoax: the dish of the day really does cost €6.90. At that price, it’s hard to resist the call of the fork.

6.90: a name, a concept, a revolution

Behind this clever idea is Jade Frommer, already known for her successful immersive restaurants like Ephemera, which take diners on a journey under the ocean or into the jungle. This time, she’s gone back to basics: a bistro pure and simple, with red and white gingham tablecloths and a single dish on the slate.

First dish on the menu? The sacrosanct sausage and mashed potato A well-executed version: knife-grinded sausage straight from Aveyron, creamy homemade purée and poultry jus simmered for eight hours. All for €6.90, a feat in the heart of Paris. And yes, at that price, as their slogan announces: “we put it all in the sausage!”

A minimalist but ultra-efficient menu

At 6.90, no long menus. Just one dish, one dessert, three drinks. The idea? Focus on taste, quality and affordable prices. A real answer to the frustrations of many Parisians, fed up with skyrocketing bills at the slightest restaurant.

👉 Drinks :

  • Softs at €1.90
  • Beer and wine (red or white) at €3.90

👉 On the sweet side:
It’s impossible to leave without trying the homemade chocolate mousse, sold for €2.90, made according to a secret grandmother’s recipe. A creamy mousse , regressive and perfectly proportioned, worth the detour alone.

An ephemeral concept… but with lasting potential?

Running until June 30, 2025, Bistrot 6.90 functions as a pop-up experience. Every 21 days, the main course changes, renewing interest without changing the price. A regularity that should win the loyalty of the curious and the gourmet alike. Next recipe? Mystery, but the “neighborhood bistro” spirit will remain.

And what if this table became a business model in its own right? Against a backdrop of inflation, where Parisian restaurants are sometimes becoming unaffordable, 6.90 proves that “eating well at low prices” is no utopia.

Why we’re talking about it (and why you should go)

  • Because it’s good, homemade and inexpensive
  • Because the place is warm, unpretentious and on a human scale
  • Because word-of-mouth is already going strong: lunchtime queues are getting longer and longer
  • Because it’s a real alternative to Bouillons, with no need to wait 45 minutes for a table.

Verdict: 6.90 ticks all the boxes

A unique, well-cooked dish, a comforting dessert, and unbeatable prices: 6.90 could well become your new lunchtime HQ. Especially if you work in the Sentier, Grands Boulevards or near Bonne Nouvelle.
