S.T. Dupont revisits the iconic pen designed for Jackie Kennedy

More than 50 years after its creation, S.T. Dupont has revived its Classique model, born of a personal commission from Jackie Kennedy. A re-edition that combines historical tribute and contemporary design.

A pen born of a diplomatic gesture

It all began in 1972, when a symbolic gift changed the course of design history. Jackie Kennedy, then First Lady of the United States, received a Ligne 1 lighter from S.T. Gilded and adorned with a discreet “J”, this lighter quickly became a fetish object for the former First Lady. So attached was she to it that, a decade later, she ordered a matching ballpoint pen. At the time, S.T. Dupont did not yet manufacture writing instruments… But the company rose to the challenge.

Le Classique: the birth of an emblem

This unique request gave rise to the Classique pen, a piece that marked the beginning of theArt of Writing at S.T. Dupont. Dupont. Slim and slender, adorned with vertical guilloches, its design is inspired by the famous lighter. It quickly established itself as an emblem of the 70s, combining innovation, expertise and elegance.

A faithful, contemporary reissue

Today, the Classique is back in the spotlight, updated to meet modern needs. Thicker and more ergonomic, this new model remains faithful to the original aesthetic, while adopting a unisex format, better suited to contemporary expectations. Palladium, gold, refined geometric lines: the S.T. Dupont codes remain intact.
