Louis Vuitton joins forces with Kari Voutilainen

When Louis Vuitton enters the workshop of a Finnish master watchmaker, the result is a timepiece as mysterious as it is exclusive.
A collaboration as discreet as it is formidable
Since 2023, Louis Vuitton has been exploring the spheres of independent watchmaking with strategic flair. After a first chapter with Rexhep Rexhepi, it’s now Kari Voutilainen who lends her expertise to the French house. The result? The LVKV-02 GMR 6, a watch designed to appeal to connoisseurs, in just five examples.
This project is one of a series that feed into the Louis Vuitton Watch Prize for Independent Creative, a fund launched by Jean Arnault to support independent talent with an endowment of €150,000. A gesture both symbolic and pragmatic.
An aesthetic that pays homage to travel
The design is inspired by the Escale 2024 watch, but with a revised vision: tantalum case, platinum bezel and caseback, hand-wound mechanical movement, 32 jewels set… Luxury here translates into precision. At the center of the gold dial, the iconic Damier is interpreted with a rare manual guilloché. Two bracelets – grey fabric and anthracite alligator – complete this jewel of ingenuity.
A tailor-made trunk for a Louis Vuitton timepiece
Each watch is accompanied by a hand-painted trunk, echoing the world of travel so dear to Louis Vuitton. Every detail – from the colors to the motifs – echoes the lines of the dial. These pieces are also numbered, accentuating their rarity.
