This new Marais café hides much more than just good coffee…

Can you still be surprised by a coffee shop in Paris? Yes, if you push open the door of Hanoi 1988 flowers & Archives, nestled in the 3rd arrondissement.
This fifth address of the Hanoi 1988 group offers a surprising yet perfectly coherent concept: a coffee lounge with Vietnamese specialties that is also a florist, a DIY workshop and a ceramics boutique. In other words, a place where the senses intertwine and where you don’t just come to consume, but to enjoy a poetic, slow, artisanal experience.
Total immersion in Vietnamese aesthetics
From the moment you enter, the décor sets the tone: no two seats are alike, with mottled vases, antique windows and handmade crockery… The atmosphere is as much like an Asian country house as a romantic cabinet of curiosities. The furniture, made from salvaged and mottled objects, tells a story: that of an intimate Vietnam, transmitted through everyday objects.
This taste for detail is accompanied by a real aesthetic bias: no wifi, here we slow down. We read, observe and chat. The sound of pruned stems, the scent of fresh flowers and the crackle of hand-poured coffee make up the muffled soundtrack of the place.
A menu faithful to Vietnamese traditions
When it comes to beverages, Hanoi 1988 doesn’t give in to the siren song of generic coffee. There’segg coffee, powerful and creamy, but also cà phê sữa đá with condensed milk, coco coffee, rare Vietnamese teas and organic matcha. To accompany these, a selection of Asian-inspired pastries: black sesame or spirulina cookies, chiffon cakes, matcha brownies, fruit cheesecakes, or the delicious pappa roti, fluffy buns that come in coffee or matcha flavors.
Everything is served in handcrafted Vietnamese crockery, reinforcing the experience of a coffee that’s as much to be savored as it is to be contemplated. Expect to pay €6-7 for a drink, and around €5 for sweets.
A true artisanal and creative dimension
But what really makes the difference is theworkshop space. Hanoi 1988 regularly offers DIY floral workshops, advertised via Instagram. Bouquet composition, an introduction to Japanese floral art, or the creation of paper flowers: creative experiences, from €55 to €65, snack included, in a setting conducive to inspiration.
This focus on the customer experience reflects a clear desire to make the place a sensory and creative haven, a world away from generic coffee shops.
