Interparfums acquires Maison Goutal

French licensed fragrance giant Interparfums has taken a new step by acquiring Maison Goutal, an iconic brand in the world of haute parfumerie. A strategic turning point that marks the return of this house to the French flag.

Back to basics

After more than fourteen years in the hands of the South Korean Amorepacific group, Maison Goutal has regained its French identity with its acquisition by Interparfums. The transaction, the amount of which remains confidential, includes all the brand’s intellectual property rights. However, a transition period is planned, during which Amorepacific will continue to operate the brand under license, before Interparfums takes over fully in 2026.

The Goutal DNA: a unique signature

Founded in 1981 by Annick Goutal, a musician and model converted to perfumery, the brand quickly established itself as a benchmark in the world of haute parfumerie. With iconic creations such as L’Eau d’Hadrien and Petite Chérie, Goutal has seduced lovers of elegant, refined fragrances the world over.

In 2018, the rebranding ofAnnick Goutal as Maison Goutal aimed to modernize the brand’s image while strengthening its international expansion. With this acquisition, Interparfums aims to accelerate this momentum and fully exploit the potential of the haute parfumerie segment, a fast-growing market.

A strategic acquisition for Interparfums

Until now, Interparfums has mainly managed prestigious licenses such as Jimmy Choo, Montblanc, Karl Lagerfeld and Coach. The direct purchase of a brand is a novel strategy for the group, which posted sales of 880.5 million euros in 2024, up 10.3%.

Philippe Benacin, CEO of Interparfums, states that “the acquisition of the Goutal brand is in line with our desire to diversify into haute parfumerie”. Camille Goutal, daughter of the founder, will remain involved in olfactory development to guarantee the authenticity of the creations.

With this acquisition, Interparfums confirms its ambition to position itself as a key player in high-end perfumery. A new page has been turned for Maison Goutal, which could well regain its international reputation under the impetus of this new owner.
