Vivienne Westwood organizes her next show in India

Vivienne Westwood announces its first show in India, under the India Gate in Mumbai, featuring local textile know-how.
Vivienne Westwood, a tribute to Indian craftsmanship
On April 1, 2025, Vivienne Westwood will present its first-ever fashion show in India, a groundbreaking event celebrating the country’s wealth of handcrafted fabrics. In partnership with the Maharashtra Department of Textiles and the Vivz Fashion School, the brand will pay tribute to traditional weaving and spinning techniques, underlining its commitment to more responsible fashion.
From the outset, Vivienne Westwood has been committed to promoting ethical and sustainable craftsmanship. This show follows in her footsteps, highlighting natural Indian materials, starting with Khadi, the country’s emblematic hand-woven cotton. Since the designer’s death in 2022, Andreas Kronthaler has perpetuated this vision by placing textile know-how at the heart of the company.
India, the new luxury playground
Vivienne Westwood is not the only fashion house to take an interest in India. Back in 2023, Dior staged a spectacular show under the India Gate in Mumbai, showcasing India’s exceptional embroidery.
Beyond fashion, luxury brands such as Hermès, Shiseido, Coty and Estée Lauder are investing heavily in India. According to a study by Barclays Bank, the Indian luxury goods market could grow by 15-25% by 2030, reaching between 23 and 38 billion euros.
With this catwalk show, Vivienne Westwood continues to build on this momentum, reaffirming its commitment to textile artisans and strengthening its influence in a rapidly expanding market. An appointment not to be missed for exceptional fashion and craftsmanship.
