Chanel surprises with a bold play on proportions

Chanel’s Autumn-Winter 2025-2026 show, presented on the final day of Paris Fashion Week, unveiled a collection playing on layering and proportions, as we await the official arrival of Matthieu Blazy as artistic director.

A monumental setting for an unexpected collection

It was under the glass roof of the Grand Palais, in the heart of a spectacular decor – a spiral of black ribbon rising to the ceiling – that the Maison unveiled its new silhouettes. With no artistic director of its own, the show nonetheless imposed a strong, assertive vision.

Key pieces? A black tweed jacket with jeweled buttons, stretching into a sophisticated coat-dress, and an oversized white poplin shirt that fell to the ankles. A short pink suit, worn with a sheer jacket and matching airy skirt, confirmed the art of layering that redefines Chanel’s traditional volumes.

Excessive accessories for a bold look

Boldness also crept into accessories, where Chanel’s emblematic pearls took on a whole new dimension: giant pearl necklace bags, imposing rings, and oversized clutches. Conversely, mini handbags made a striking appearance, creating a subtle contrast between extravagance and minimalism.

Matthieu Blazy, a promising future for Chanel

Although Matthieu Blazy has not yet officially taken the reins of the House, his name was already on everyone’s lips. His first Chanel show, scheduled for Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2026, is eagerly awaited. In the meantime, this autumn-winter collection proved that the Chanel spirit continues to evolve, skilfully flirting with audacity and tradition.
