Esprit Jardin: the Fête des Plantes at Versailles

Versailles celebrates nature with the 17th edition of Esprit Jardin, a not-to-be-missed event dedicated to plant lovers.

On the weekend of April 26 and 27, 2025, Versailles is transformed into a temple of gardening and biodiversity with the return of the Fête des Plantes Esprit Jardin. Set around the Cathédrale Saint-Louis, the Carrés Saint-Louis and the Potager du Roi, this free event attracts over 20,000 visitors each year, who come to discover the city’s exceptional landscaped heritage.

A rich program of plant events

Over two days, workshops, shows and discoveries follow one another to offer a total immersion in the world of gardens. Must-sees for this 2025 edition include:

🌿 Les Moutons d’Ouessant” show: a street theater performance where sheep and border collie impress young and old alike.

🌱 Nature & creativity workshops:

  • Making seed bombs
  • Creation of herbal teas and beeswax candles
  • Sprouting cards and kokedamas
  • Raising awareness of composting and vermicomposting

🎨 Sketched walks with the Urban Sketchers: A live sketched exploration of the Potager du Roi and the Saint-Louis district.

🌳 Special tours & night show:

  • Special access to Balbi Park (Saturday 3:30pm)
  • Magical night-time immersion in the Potager du Roi

A market for plants and green ideas

With over 90 exhibitors, nurserymen, landscapers and florists share their passion and offer a wide choice of plants and advice. A permaculture farm will also open its doors, selling plants and raising awareness of sustainable agriculture.
