Dior: a metamorphosis inspired by Virginia Woolf’s Orlando

For its Fall-Winter 2025-2026 collection, Dior draws its inspiration from Virginia Woolf’s novel Orlando, exploring the fluidity of genres and the evolution of time.

Presented at Paris Fashion Week, the collection opened with a spectacular scene: a model suspended on a swing, bearing the inscription “Once Upon a Time”, marking the entrance into a dreamlike, metamorphosed universe. The setting, worthy of an immersive arena, featured a parade of grandiose elements: falling meteorites, flames, ice and even pterodactyls flying over the catwalk.

The silhouettes reflect this search for a balance between past and present. White shirts and revisited corsets sit alongside pieces influenced by Gianfranco Ferré, such as light trench coats and flowing suits. Elizabethan gorgières, revisited in a contemporary way, recall the innovative spirit of Woolf’s novel, where identity and history are constantly transforming.

The collection oscillates between functionality and sensuality, with refined embroidery, daring transparencies and ruffles adding a fairytale dimension. Among the historical references, a nostalgic wink: John Galliano’s “J’Adore Dior” t-shirt, which makes a comeback, blending heritage and modernity.

With this collection, Dior redefines the contours of femininity, proposing a fashion in perpetual metamorphosis, where the past dialogues with the future in a ballet of elegance and audacity.
