Hair barettes, the big comeback on the catwalks

Logo-printed hairpins and barrettes are the star accessory of the spring-summer 2025 season. A blend of luxury and nostalgia, they’ll appeal to designers and the general public alike.

Back in 2023, some fashion houses began reintroducing hairpins to their collections, but this season they’re everywhere. Prada, Chloé, Valentino and many others have transformed these hair accessories into veritable luxury pieces. JW Anderson and Carolina Herrera have also incorporated them into their runway shows, helping to make brooches and barrettes a fashion must-have for 2025.

An accessory revisited by the great houses

Long associated with classic hairstyles and family jewelry, brooches and hair clips are back in a more modern, sophisticated guise. On the contrary, they are elegant, minimalist and subtly ornate.

Some houses have even taken the concept a step further: Balmain launched an 18-carat gold-plated barrette marked with its iconic “B”, while David Mallet and Suzanne Syz imagined a safety pin transformed into a hair clip. More recently, hairstylist Adrien Coelho unveiled his own creations inspired by backstage fashion shows and photo studios.

A booming market

Beyond the trend, hair accessories are a fast-growing market. According to Business of Fashion, it’s already worth over $20 billion, with growth forecast to reach $33 billion by 2034.

Brands are well aware that these accessories are an excellent way of boosting their visibility while remaining accessible to a wide audience. Gucci barrettes, Prada scrunchies and Miu Miu clips should therefore continue to seduce, combining practicality with a touch of luxury.
