“Rococo & Co”: an exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs

From March 12 to May 18, 2025, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris presents “Rococo & Co”, a groundbreaking exhibition exploring the evolution of the Rococo style, from Nicolas Pineau to Cindy Sherman.
A journey through rococo history
The Rococo & Co exhibition plunges visitors into the world of Rococo, an artistic style that left its mark on 18th-century Europe before influencing design, fashion and contemporary art. The exhibition brings together nearly 200 works, ranging from furniture and objets d’art to drawings and fashion pieces, offering a comprehensive vision of this aesthetic movement.
At the heart of this exhibition, the figure of Nicolas Pineau (1684-1754), an influential sculptor and architect, is highlighted through an exceptional collection of 500 restored drawings, testifying to his expertise in woodwork, architecture and ornamentation.
A dialogue between past and present
The exhibition explores not only the rococo of the period, but also its contemporary reinterpretations. Works by Louis Majorelle, Jean Royère, Vivienne Westwood, Tan Giudicelli and Cindy Sherman revisit this baroque universe through design, fashion and visual art.
An immersive space allows visitors to immerse themselves in the workshop of an 18th-century sculptor, revealing the secrets of Rocaille woodwork.
An influence still alive today
FromArt Nouveau to post-modernism, Rococo & Co highlights the ability of rococo to span the ages. This aesthetic, long controversial for its exuberance, continues to inspire designers and artists who play with its asymmetrical shapes and nature-inspired motifs.
