For his fourth exhibition at Perrotin, Pharrell Williams celebrates artists who question notions of identity and femininity. Some forty artists, mostly from the African and Afro-descendant diasporas, are honored. Among them are Dr Esther Mahlangu, famous for her geometric paintings inspired by Ndebele culture, Kenyan artist Jess Atieno, and Senegalese sculptor Seyni Awa Camara. The exhibition also includes works by Ghanaian photographer Prince Gyasi, Zanele Muholi and Tschabalala Self, who combines painting and textiles to depict female figures. One of Pharrell Williams’ best exhibitions.
