MoonSwatch 1965: a tribute to the conquest of space

Omega and Swatch strike again with the MoonSwatch 1965, a vintage-designed watch celebrating 60 years of the historic Speedmaster. A collector’s item priced at just 275 euros.
Since March 2022, the Omega x Swatch collaboration has been constantly enriching its MoonSwatch range with models inspired by the iconic Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch. Today, it’s the turn of the MoonSwatch 1965 to enter the scene, a watch that pays tribute to the year NASA qualified the Speedmaster to accompany its astronauts into space.
A tribute to space and Omega’s history
On March 1, 1965, NASA made its choice of the Speedmaster as the official watch for its space missions official. A few months later, on June 3, 1965, astronaut Ed White performed the first American spacewalk during the Gemini IV mission, with a Speedmaster on his wrist. The MoonSwatch 1965 celebrates this milestone with subtle references:
- A white dial reminiscent of the space universe and astronaut suits.
- Revamped meters: the 19 replaces the 60 at 10am and the 65 replaces the 10 at 2am.
- The old Omega logo, hands and lettering are directly inspired by the original Speedmaster.
A collector’s watch at an affordable price
Priced at 275 euros, this MoonSwatch is an affordable nod to the legendary Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional, priced at over 7600 euros. It retains the visual codes of the original, with a grey bioceramic case, a matching tachometric bezel and a grey Velcro strap, true to the spirit of space missions.
Available in selected Swatch boutiques, the MoonSwatch 1965 promises to be highly coveted by collectors and vintage watch enthusiasts alike. A new star is born!
