Carnaval de Paris, an age-old tradition still alive today

The Paris Carnival, whose origins date back to the Middle Ages, is a veritable institution in the City of Light. After the Chinese New Year festivities, it’s the turn of this flamboyant event to brighten up the streets of Paris. Every year, thousands of participants and spectators gather to admire a joyous and colorful procession, a symbol of celebration and freedom.

A theme of love and joy

For this 2025 edition, the carnival features an inspiring theme: “Love, Peace and Joy”. An invitation to celebrate and share, where everyone is free to interpret the theme in their own way. Extravagant costumes, original masks and a shower of confetti are the order of the day for a parade full of fantasy and good cheer.

A festive itinerary through Paris

The procession is scheduled to start at 1pm from Place Gambetta (20th arrondissement). The parade will start at 2pm, taking the following route:

Departure: Place Gambetta
Avenue Gambetta (towards Ménilmontant)
Place Auguste-Métivier
Boulevard de Ménilmontant
Boulevard de Belleville
Rue du Faubourg-du-Temple
Arrival: Place de la République around 6pm, where the party will continue until 8pm.
