Anya Taylor-Joy in “Lucky”, the new Apple TV+ series

Apple TV+ unveils a tantalizing project: “Lucky”, a mini-series starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Drew Starkey, where scams and redemption intertwine in a breathless thriller.

A prestigious cast and an ambitious production

In Lucky, Anya Taylor-Joy plays Lucky Armstrong, a con artist with a troubled past who hopes to turn her life around after winning the lottery. Problem: cashing in her winnings could land her in jail. Alongside the actress is Drew Starkey, best known for Outer Banks and Queer, who co-stars in a suspenseful, introspective adventure.

The series is adapted from the best-selling novel by Marissa Stapley, published in 2021 and acclaimed by Reese Witherspoon, who has made it one of the leading books in her Reese’s Book Club. The producer and actress, who has already made a name for herself with The Morning Show and Daisy Jones & The Six, is once again teaming up with Apple TV+ to bring this captivating story to the small screen.

A tale of scams and the quest for freedom

Lucky explores the moral dilemmas and choices of its heroine, caught between her criminal past and her desire for a second chance. With its fast-paced plot and nuanced characters, the series promises a blend of action, psychology and human drama.

Filming began this week in Las Vegas, before moving on to Los Angeles. The first images reveal a bright neon atmosphere, with Anya Taylor-Joy in a sequined dress, observing the city from a rooftop, alongside Drew Starkey in a suit.

A production that promises to be grandiose

Behind the camera are Jonathan Tropper and Cassie Pappas, already involved in such hits as Silo and Griselda. The cast also includes Annette Bening, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor and Timothy Olyphant, promising a high-flying cast.

With Lucky, Apple TV+ is banking on a suspenseful series, with a rising actress and a plot designed to captivate audiences.

👉 Scheduled for release in 2025.
