Marni in Milan: a collection under the sign of art and collaboration

Francesco Risso, Artistic Director of Marni, unveiled a Fall 2025 collection in Milan that is all about experimentation and the fusion of fashion and art.

An intense artistic collaboration

For this new collection, Francesco Risso collaborated with Olaolu Slawn and Soldier Boyfriend, two Nigerian artists based in London. The partnership took the form of a true artistic residency. The three designers worked together for a month in a London studio. The result? Their works are printed on the garments and displayed on the walls of the showroom. Theatmosphere is immersive and surreal.

The collection, christened The Pink Sun, was unveiled in a faux jazz club. Each piece of furniture was covered with hand-painted black-and-white tablecloths and slipcovers. Before the show, guests were welcomed with vermouth martinis, in an intimate and artistic atmosphere.

Fashion between deconstruction and romanticism

Here, Marni plays a bold stylistic card: oversized Crombie coats transformed into cocoons, sculptural tubular skirts, modular shirt-dresses… all in an explosion of hand-painted colors and patterns. All in an explosion of colors and hand-painted motifs. Risso describes the collection as an homage to Marni, where each piece is conceived as a storehouse of knowledge.

Romantic and surrealist inspirations are omnipresent: flowers embroidered on satin, dresses with biomorphic shapes, Edwardian coats in fox tails and fantastic prints like a pumpkin head adorning the back of a dress.

A highlight of the show was the appearance of model and actress Aymeline Valade in a red satin Victorian gown, with black wool shoulders and fabric flowers. Another personal nod from Risso was the use of his friend and designer Laurence Steele as a model.

Marni, a house always in search of experimentation

With this collection, Francesco Risso confirms his taste for experimentation, dialogue between disciplines and free, hybrid, expressive fashion. His commitment to emerging artists such as Slawn and Soldier Boyfriend proves that Marni is a house in perpetual reinvention.
