Jil Sander: the Meiers step down as artistic directors

After eight years at the helm of Jil Sander collections, Lucie and Luke Meier are leaving the German fashion house. Their departure is part of a wave of changes within the major luxury brands.

The news came shortly after the presentation of their latest Autumn/Winter 2025 collection at Milan Fashion Week. A show that marks the end of a chapter for this duo, both creatively and personally. Having arrived in 2017, Lucie and Luke Meier had succeeded in imposing their minimalist, sophisticated aesthetic, perfectly in tune with Jil Sander’s DNA.

This departure comes at a turbulent time for the luxury goods industry. After Fendi, Gucci and Maison Margiela, it’s Jil Sander’s turn to review its artistic direction. This decision, announced as having been taken by “mutual agreement”, comes in a delicate economic context. OTB Group, owner of Jil Sander, recently reported a 4.4% decline in annual sales.

Meanwhile, Serge Brunschwig, former President and CEO of Fendi, has just been appointed CEO of Jil Sander and Chief Strategy Officer of OTB. An announcement that could signal a strategic reorientation for the house.

The Meier succession remains a mystery. Who will take up the torch? A crucial question for the brand, which will have to maintain its balance between modernity and minimalist heritage.
