L’Oréal Paris has announced a prestigious new addition to its ambassador roster: Gillian Anderson. Revealed by her iconic role in X-Files, the actress, activist and author joins the brand to embody the Age Perfect campaign, directed by photographer Cass Bird. With this choice, the brand affirms its commitment to women over 50 and their power to redefine beauty standards.
A powerful message for women of all ages

A career marked by strong female roles
Born in Chicago, but raised between London and Michigan, Gillian Anderson became an icon thanks to her role as Dana Scully in X-Files(1993-2002). This character even inspired a phenomenon known as the“Scully effect“, encouraging thousands of women to pursue careers in science and medicine. More recently, she made her mark as Jean Milburn, a sexologist, in Sex Education. Her brilliant career has earned her two Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe, four SAG Awards and an honorary OBE for her services to theater.
A woman committed to equality and education
Gillian Anderson isn’t just a talented actress. An activist for over 25 years, she actively supports organizations such as the Feminist Majority Foundation, Planned Parenthood and Wellbeing of Women in the U.K. In 2017, she co-wrote the book WE: A Manifesto for Women Everywhere, followed by the podcast What Do I Know? tackling social issues and sexual liberation. Her latest book, Want : Sexual Fantasies by Anonymous, became a Sunday Times bestseller.
A fervent defender of LGBTQIA+ rights, she is also committed to children’s health and education through the SAYes mentoring program. Her commitment to the environment and to indigenous peoples shows that she is much more than an actress: she is a committed and inspiring woman.
