SAG Awards 2025, the complete list of winners

The SAG Awards 2025 have delivered their verdict with some major surprises, including Timothée Chalamet’s victory over Adrien Brody and the unexpected coronation of the film Conclave.

On Sunday evening in Los Angeles, the SAG Awards 2025 produced a number of unexpected twists and turns, perhaps heralding a reshuffling of the cards for the Oscars to come. Renowned as a reliable barometer of the prestigious golden statuettes, the ceremony was particularly surprising in two crucial categories: Best Actor and Best Cast.

Timothée Chalamet: heading for his first Oscar?

Franco-American actor Timothée Chalamet created quite a stir by winning Best Male Actor for his role in Un Parfait Inconnu. This victory, snatched from Adrien Brody, who was considered the favorite, reopens the Oscar race. Visibly surprised by the award, Chalamet nevertheless delivered an ambitious speech, clearly expressing his dream of becoming one of cinema’s greatest actors. The actor cited sports legends such as Michael Jordan and Michael Phelps as role models, as well as film icons such as Marlon Brando, Daniel Day-Lewis and Viola Davis.

Conclave triumphs over Wicked

The big surprise of the evening was the triumph of Conclave, which won the prestigious Best Cast award. Led by Ralph Fiennes, surrounded byIsabella Rossellini, John Lithgow and Sergio Castellitto, the film had already impressed at the BAFTAs. Despite this, the team didn’t seem to be expecting a repeat of Wicked, which was widely nominated but came away empty-handed. This recognition could mark a significant turning point for the Oscars.

Surprises on the series front too

The SAG Awards ceremony didn’t spare the TV categories. While the drama series Shōgun was a big winner, Colin Farrell sprang a surprise by beating Richard Gadd, recent Emmy winner for My Little Reindeer, in the Best Actor in a Miniseries category.

On the comedy front, Only Murders in the Building triumphed over favorites Hacks and The Bear, winning Best Comedy as well as Best Actor for Martin Short, absent due to Covid according to his partner Steve Martin. The joy was palpable for Selena Gomez, who emotionally exclaimed on stage, “We never win, it feels so weird!”
