Hanami: the cherry blossom festival at Parc de Sceaux

Every spring, Parc de Sceaux is decked out in its finest colors as Japanese cherry trees bloom. From March 29 to April 27 2025, Hanami returns for a poetic and immersive celebration of nature.

With the arrival of fine weather, the parks and gardens of the Paris region are transformed into veritable havens of peace. One of the most eagerly awaited events is Hanami, the cherry blossom festival, a must for lovers of Japan and nature. Inspired by an ancestral Japanese tradition, this celebration invites visitors to admire the Sakura blossoms, a symbol of renewal and ephemerality.

An immersion in Japanese tradition

In Japan, Hanami literally means “watching the flowers”, an age-old custom where families and friends gather under the cherry trees for a bucolic picnic. Every year, the Parc de Sceaux, with its orchard of majestic cherry trees, becomes the setting for this enchanting spectacle. In the Hauts-de-Seine region, this event attracts many fans of the land of the Rising Sun, who come to enjoy the enchanting scenery just a stone’s throw from Paris.

A program rich in cultural discoveries

For this 2025 edition, the Domaine départemental de Sceaux is offering a festive program based on Japanese culture. As well as admiring the cherry blossoms, visitors will be able to attend traditional dance performances, learn theart of origami or discover an exhibition dedicated to the Sakura blossoms. The weekend of April 12 and 13 will be one of the highlights of the event, with numerous activities for young and old alike.
