Euphoria Season 3: we know more!

After three years of anticipation and much speculation, HBO has finally confirmed that filming onEuphoria season 3 is underway. Here’s all the information available on this long-awaited new season.

The announcement thatEuphoria would resume filming came as a relief to fans. After months of uncertainty and rumors of a possible cancellation, HBO made production official on February 10, 2025, sharing a photo of Zendaya on social networks. The series, which brought to public attention actors turned movie stars such as Sydney Sweeney and Jacob Elordi, had been threatened by scheduling conflicts and script rewrites. Now, filming is well and truly underway.

A returning cast, but some notable absentees

The entireEuphoria cast will reprise their roles, including Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer and Alexa Demie. However, there are several notable absences. Barbie Ferreira, who played Kat, will not return due to tensions with series creator Sam Levinson. In addition, Angus Cloud, who played the drug dealer Fez, tragically passed away in the summer of 2023, a huge loss for fans and the show’s team.

Another confirmed departure is that of Storm Reid, who played Rue’s sister Gia. She announced in November 2024 that she would not be appearing in the new season. These absences will undoubtedly alter the dynamic of the storyline.

Why the delay in production?

Filming of season 3 has been delayed for several reasons. Firstly, the writers’ and actors’ strike in 2023 impacted the production of many Hollywood projects, including Euphoria. Secondly, Sam Levinson had to rework his script following negative feedback. The first version of the story included a time jump, transforming Rue into a private detective, a choice that would have been abandoned.

The postponement is also due to the busy schedules of the actors, who are now movie stars. Zendaya, for example, appeared in Dune: Part II and Challengers, while Jacob Elordi shone in Saltburn and Priscilla. Sydney Sweeney, meanwhile, has made a string of films, including Reality and the romantic comedy Everything But You.

What does the new season have in store for us?

Plot details remain under wraps, but Sam Levinson has hinted that Season 3 will move away from high schoolers to a more “film noir” atmosphere. He hinted at a reflection on morality and corruption, with Rue searching for meaning in a brutal world.

The end of season 2 had left its mark with dramatic scenes: a tragic shoot-out at Fez’s house, the arrest of Cal (Nate’s father), and a Rue that seemed to be finally moving away from drugs. The sequel promises to explore the consequences of these major events.

When will Euphoria season 3 be released?

No official release date has yet been announced by HBO, but if filming began in early 2025, a broadcast in late 2025 or early 2026 seems likely. In the meantime, fans will be able to catch up with their favorite actors in other productions, and keep up to date with the series on social networks.
