Patek Philippe bids farewell to several Nautilus and Aquanaut models

The prestigious Swiss watch brand Patek Philippe is once again tidying up its catalog. In February 2025, several emblematic models will cease production, notably in the Nautilus and Aquanaut ranges.

A strategic decision to renew our offering

As it does every year in the run-up to Watches & Wonders, Patek Philippe is discontinuing certain models to make way for new models. Among the Nautilus references that are disappearing is the Moonphase ref. 5712/1A-001 a highly prized collector’s item since 2006. The luxurious 5719/10G-010, set with diamonds, as well as the ladies’ models 7118/1A-010 and 7118-1200A-010, have suffered the same fate.

But the Nautilus series is not the only one to be affected. L’ Aquanaut ref. 5167/1A-001 the Calatrava Travel Time ref. 5524G the Grande Complication ref. 5208R-01 and the Split-Seconds chronograph ref. 5370P-011 will also no longer be produced.

Preserving the brand’s rarity and exclusivity

This withdrawal policy is nothing new for Patek Philippe. In 2021, the brand had already halted production of the Nautilus 5711, an iconic watch whose rarity had sent prices skyrocketing on the secondary market. At the time, CEO Thierry Stern explained that the brand should not allow itself to be dominated by a single model, in order to preserve its image of exclusivity and innovation.

A direct impact on the watch market

The discontinuation of these models is likely to have a major impact on the collector’s market. Rarity often creates a surge in demand and prices, driving up the value of existing models. At the same time, this decision paves the way for new models to come to light, such as the Cubitus, launched in October 2024.
