Tony Montana’s Scarface villa for sale
Mythical since its appearance in the 1983 film Scarface, the famous El Fureidis villa is back on the Californian real estate market. For lovers of luxury and cinema, it will cost no less than $40 million.
A cinema landmark
It is located in Montecito, California, 145 kilometers from Los Angeles. Today, this sumptuous residence is being offered for sale by Indian businessman Pradeep Yohanne Gupta. Built in 1906 by architect Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue, El Fureidis is a true work of architectural art.
Covering an area of 920 m², it has “only” four bedrooms, but offers nine bathrooms and a sumptuous setting, with a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean. Surrounded by luxuriant gardens, its style is a blend of Byzantine, classical and Mediterranean architecture. Its 24-carat gold ceiling, visible in the dining room, testifies to its unique refinement.
A monument to the 7th art
While the villa is well known to lovers of luxury real estate, it is above all a cinema icon. It played host to several scenes from Brian De Palma‘s legendary Scarface, including the film’s explosive finale, which left its mark on the history of the 7th art.
Although Scarface is set in 1980s Miami, the real home of Tony Montana, played by Al Pacino, is actually on the West Coast of the USA.
A price that has soared over the years
The value of El Fureidis has fluctuated several times. In 2008, it was sold for $20 million; in 2014, it was put back on the market for $35 million. Then in 2015, it was finally acquired for $12.6 million.
Today, its price has reached $40 million, confirming its status as an exceptional property. A sum that shouldn’t scare off movie buffs and prestige real estate enthusiasts.
