@wesanderson

Wes Anderson returns in 2025 with The Phoenician Scheme, a film with an impressive cast and a polished visual universe. Here’s everything we know about this eagerly-awaited project.

A family story at the heart of the script

Two years after Asteroid City, Wes Anderson unveils his twelfth feature film, scheduled for release on May 30, 2025 in the U.S. and June 6 worldwide. Co-written with Roman Coppola, the film will focus on the relationship between a father and daughter in a large family business. Little information has been released about the plot, but the Cinémathèque Française will be devoting an exhibition to the film in March 2025, a sign of the cultural impact of his work.

An XXL cast, true to Anderson’s style

As usual, Wes Anderson surrounds himself with a prestigious cast, mixing film legends and new rising stars:
Benicio del Toro: Zsa-zsa Korda, one of the richest men in Europe
MiaThreapleton (daughter of Kate Winslet): Sister Liesl, his daughter turned nun
Michael Cera: Bjorn Lund, their guardian
Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Riz Ahmed, Mathieu Amalric, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, Richard Ayoade, Rupert Friend, Hope Davis and Benedict Cumberbatch complete this extraordinary cast.

A master of casting and style

Since his early days, Wes Anderson has excelled in the art of casting. He associates sacred monsters (Tom Hanks, Jeffrey Wright) with new generations of actors, as he did with Timothée Chalamet and Lyna Khoudri in The French Dispatch (2021).
